Silly Monkey!

Austin has learned to climb on the couch and now loves to stand up and jump!  He is such a silly monkey:)

Picnic Anyone?

We just bought Austin a picnic table for the backyard.  He already loves it.  We are trying to teach him he can sit on the bench and have a snack, but he usually prefers to climb on top of the table!  I can't wait for the weather to warm back up so we can begin picnic snacks and finger painting.

A Trip to the Fort Worth Zoo

Last Saturday, March 7th, we decided to take Austin to the Fort Worth Zoo.  Though I had a really great time looking at the animals with my boys, I don't think I will go on the first pretty day of winter/spring ever again.  It was so busy!!!  They had two overflow lots full of people and we all arrived at the very same time.  It was so sad because we have been encouraging Austin to walk for a few months now and there were too many people to let him down and he really wanted to go!  We did however have fun seeing the giraffes, zebras, elephants, penguins, and other mystery animals.  Austin's favorite part was riding on top of the stroller and riding the carousel.

No More Bottles!

When Austin turned 1 we started only giving him a bottle before bed.  I think it was more Mommy than Austin that thought this was still necessary, plus we still had formula left.  A little over a week ago we officially stopped the bottle!  It is so nice not to have to buy formula.  What an expense!  So here are a few pics of Austin helping us "unload" the last of the bottles.  I thought I might keep them for baby #2, but after inspecting them closer, I think baby #2 deserves better...hehehe!  Oh, by the way, I am not pregnant, but plan to be in a few years:)

Austin's First Haircut

Okay, so before Austin's birthday, well actually on January 30, the day before his party, Austin got his first haircut!  We tried to go to Cool Cuts located in Babies R Us but it was going to be an hour wait so we tried out Snip-Its.  My friend Lori recommended it to us.  The lady did such a good job and Austin was adorable!

Shower Time

Austin loves the shower.  He loves to walk and crawl around in the water splashing away.  He also stares down the drain like maybe he thinks there might be something good down there like more pacifiers or mice.  I think the shower may actually be the safest place in the house for Austin (as long as we don't let him shove the door open), because there is really nothing for him to jump off of or smash in the shower.

Check Out My New Truck

Mommy and Daddy took me shopping last weekend to spend the money my Aunt Judy and Uncle Ed gave me for my 1st birthday.  I picked out the coolest blue truck! It is so much fun.  It has a real horn and goes really fast around the house.

Danger Ranger begins his daredevil training

I am going to go out on a limb and just predict that we won't make it to Kindergarten without at least one broken bone.  This kid is crazy (in the best of ways) and is not afraid to try to do anything.  Lacey said today that he climbed off the back of this little slide (the yellow rock wall side) HEAD FIRST.   I have got to get that on video!  Of course, if this slide castle didn't have the yellow wheel to turn, he wouldn't care anything about it.  He just loves turning wheels.  So there you have it...he will either grow up to be a stuntman or a tire changer.

Austin is ONE!

Happy Birthday to Austin!  Boy does he love birthday cake.

Austin's new swing

Look what Austin got for his 1st birthday!  Oh, how I wanted to turn the sprinklers on...  Maybe when it warms up a little, I will get them :)

This was a picture taken before he became a diabetic from the cake photos.

Present Time!

Austin had so much fun eating the paper from his birthday presents.  Isn't he adorable!

Maybe my knees will stop itching and burning now

After he started taking so many steps at a time, we rushed out and did the most responsible thing we could think of doing...

We bought one of those monkey backpack leash things.  Sure, we always laughed at parents in the mall when they had their kids on the leash, but we are just going to tell ourselves that Austin is a special case and those other parents are still really poor parents.  If they saw Austin sliding down the slide headfirst on purpose or gnawing the sides of his crib like a beaver, they would let their children roam free and donate their backpack leashes to us.

One less chore for Zach in a few years!

He just isn't tall enough to put the dishes up or get them out of the sink.  Not to mention how much he likes to throw everything.  Maybe I should work with him on taking out the trash...that is more on his height level.

Never mind the footed frog pajamas

The point is that he can slide really good by himself.  If he would have had bare feet or shoes on and tried to slide, he probably would have dug his feet into the slide and pulled off one death defying front flip.
